Franklin Court…NE corner of Court and Franklin Avenues

Franklin Court is neither old nor historic. This historically compatible, 7-unit Franklin Court project was completed in 2006. The project was designed to be a visual extension of the El Presidio neighborhood and features three distinct neighborhood architectural styles : Sonoran Rowhouse, Territorial, and Craftsman. The two-story units center around interior brick courtyards, and feature poured-in-place, colored concrete floors, recycled wood floors, and period detailing such as wood double hung windows, bead board wainscoting, and traditional tile patterning.

The exterior walls consist of recycled foam blocks manufactured within a mile from the project site and grouted with cement manufactured locally. Roofs feature recycled rubber roof shingles, and all ceilings are insulated with ground-up R-50 newspaper insulation. The extensive wood trim detailing in the interior of the units consists of post harvest wheat stalks recycled into non-toxic particleboard. No petroleum products were used in the construction of the units, and all paints are eco-friendly.
