266 E. Congress Street…Currently HUB restaurant

This large commercial building was constructed in 1928 and housed, among other businesses, the Shanghai Café. With its hand painted murals and ceiling fans, the Shanghai Café was a welcome retreat from the blazing summer sun for shoppers and “businessmen” alike. Today, the building houses the HUB, a restaurant known for its “homemade” ice cream, and represents a good example of Tucson’s 1920s commercial architecture.

Continue west to Congress and 6th Ave. and look at the southwest corner.
